Arheological sites

Kutinska lipa
The archeological site Kutinska lipa in Kutina has been recognised since the end of 19th century. Current excavations were initiated in 2004. At the moment the site is being prepared for conservation work. Among the more prominent items found in the site are the remains of the external and indoor decoration elements of Roman houses and every day life utensils.  Excavations have also revealed the foundation of the construction on the basis of which it will be possible to reconstruct the history of Kutina before the first written record of its existence in 1256.

Ciglenice Osekovo
Roman complex Ciglenice in Osekovo can be found on the mere brim of the nature park Lonjsko polje, along the Zagreb-Lipovac motorway. It is the remains of a vila or a settlement. Excavations have been organised into two research blocks. The first one revealed the foundation of a Roman house (conserved and presented ’in situ’), and the other partly analyses the raster of the foundation of the other building with the remains of a hypocaust (a kind of central heating). The mobile archeological findings suggest that the residents of the place had a good standard of living.
